The inspiration for this photo began one night when I sat down to watch Shrek. At the beginning of the film it shows the different companies involved in producing the film. One of these was DreamWorks Pictures. The logo for this is a night sky with a half moon on which there is a boy sitting holding a fishing rod. This inspired me to create my own image were I am sitting on the moon. It took me some time to find the different images I was going to put together to create this image. Once I had the starry sky, the clouds and the half moon I began to set up for the photograph on me sitting on the moon. For this I needed to make sure I was able to transfer the picture onto Photoshop and be able to cut it out. This meant I had to hang a white sheet from the wall. I also needed my feet to dangle down so I found a table that was high enough for this to happen. After I had all the images ready I began to put the mall together on Photoshop, editing brightness, contrast and exposure so that they all fit in with each other. Finlay I added some more start to the sky and used the bun tool to darken some areas of the clouds making them look more moody in a stormy kind of way. I am really pleased with this image. specially when I consider the short time I spent editing it.Monday, 2 February 2009

Sneaking in the woods
For this image I was i
nspired by a lovely walk in the woods. It was really fun to sit down and think how I could integrate a kind of fashion portrait in the woods. The best I could come up with was the idea of me looking as if I am sneaking around looking, or maybe hiding from something. I like the way it looks but the only thing I am not very pleased with is the fact that I did not use my own image of the woods which made my image really small with rubbish quality. The best to do, I have now realized is to go out and get my own images for layering and textures, even is Google and deveant art have really good ones. Well I guess I can make some exceptions. Overall I like the tone on the image and tried to make the image look as if I was catching the last few minutes of natural daylight. This I thought would also make who ever looks at it wonder what it is that I am doing in the woods at that time of day. For this image i was inspired by a lovely walk in the woods.

This image began with me posing like a silly fool just to create any photograph that I could use to try different Photoshop techniques on. Just like the image below I wanted to continue developing my skills of adding textures to the image. As I continued to try different
tutorials that I found on the internet, I began to develop the image with a Lomo theme to it. I began to look for tutorials that could give me such effects as those you can get when using Lomo cameras such a Holga which can give the image quite interesting effects. These can be simple shadows and random floods of colored light that add a strange and almost magical look to the image. One of the effects that I like, which is produced when using a Holga camera, is a dark vignette that turns turquoise and yellow. This is something I have tried to recreate, and feel happy with the result I achieved. After this I recolored some of my clothing, this I felt was necessary and made everything tie in better to the Lomo effect that changes some of the color qualities on an image.

I am back!!
It’s been a while since I have updated my Blog, mostly due to pure laziness. As well as this my Blog got blocked, so the process unblocking it seemed too complicated to bother. Now its sorted I am hoping to stick to regularly updating it every time I begin a new project or produce more work. Even thought I have not stuck to updating my Blog for some time I have been adding my work to my Flickr account, which has helped me as people have helped me with opinions and new techniques that have helped me develop my work. I have also found Flickr to be a great source of inspiration that has helped me to develop my creativity and free my head of other worries to allow my imagination to take over.

Portrait of my mum

These photograph of my mum were originally taken as part of my sense of place project for AS photography, and were quite simple portraits. As i am doing allot of texture experimenting, I decided i would try and give the photos a totally different feel and look. I created this look by reducing the contrast of the photos and playing around with the red and blue curves on a separate layer. after this i added a gradient layer to give it the dark vignette and finally added done light damage at the top of the photograph to make it look older. I finally decided to place bot photos on the same canvas as they bot show the same person with two very different facial expressions, I think they complement eachother really nicely.

Lighthouse and experimenting with textures
I took this photograph of a lighthouse on a holiday to Cornwall, it was quite a boring and simple photograph, which I then opened using Photoshop and began by cropping it to make give a more interesting composition, I then changed the contrast/brightness and added various things to make it more interesting and give it this stormy eerie look. when I was pleased with these changes I decided to finish it off by adding a texture, the texture I used was a photograph of an old piece of paper which I uploaded from Google images, I changed various setting and the fill and opacity to make it look like this.I am really pleased with the final look of the photo and the way i have been able to develop my skills using layer and textures.

Banner with prints and photos by hannah, diana and juan

This is the latest team effort between Hannah, Diana and me. It all began when we all walked into my photography room and there was a workshop going on, and they were making prints to then transfer into Photoshop were they were going to combine with some science related items to advertise the school special science status. So we decided to join in and we all did all the process and ended up with our individual prints which we then look pictures of and uploaded onto Photoshop. We then decided to combine all three prints onto one canvas on Photoshop and instead of basing it on science we wanted to put together a range of each of out own photographs that we have taken and edited ourselves. After basically a whole day we ended up with this, and we really loved at, as well as blending in some of out own photographs we placed a textured layer which added a kinda old look to the prints. overall i am so pleased with it and i really want to have another go at making more of this type of things because i think it is a really nice way to display a range of photographs which can all complement each other.
